Unlike it's predecessor, Jurassic Park, which was an overhead shooting and FPS game, The Lost World (which really doesn't have much to do with the movie) is a 2D sidescroller like Contra, but relaing on fast reflexes rather than knowing when to use a power-up. All you need to know about the plot is that you are on the island and need to survive. There is a variety of expected weapons, and you will traverse through a volcanoe, through the sewers and more.
Graphics [9/10]:
They are fantastic, highly detailed, and even the T-Rex looks real good. One complaint: Some of the levels are a bit too dark.
Sound [9/10]:
Everything you would expect from a good SNES game, and ATMOSPHERE. Just wait until you hear the T-Rex chasing you through a forest while you are on your jeep, or Raptors clawing for you in the sewers.
Gameplay [8/10]:
Basic stuff in need of some balance; the volcanoe level from earlier on is pretty hard, but one nice feature is that there are different paths to take in the levels besides always left to right and vice versa. It's also fun to kill the dinos, which is always a plus : ) . Unfortunately, when you rip away the great atmosphere and some original levels, you still have a basic side scroller for the Nintendo box. Still, it is fun and the last good Jurassic Park game.
Overall [83%]:
A good game flawed only by hard difficulty (but don't expect any Contra-ness), and a few other things that don't affect gameplay too much. Try it out-you'll be glad you had it's a pretty good game worth $20-25 dollars. If you find it for that, you can't really go wrong. It's no classic, though.
